New Year with New Challenges

Holidays - especially food-focused and family-centered holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas - can retrigger eating disorders or spiral a student into developing a new eating disorder (ED). With Internet access and/or like-minded conspirators, a novice can quickly master the art of deception. Consequently, new problems may arise in your class- room or on your team at the beginning of the calendar year.

Why should you care?
Until our early twenties our minds are developing. All the way through our teenage years our bodies go through critical growth periods. A nutritionally- deprived individual may not go fully through one or more of these critical stages - or they may skip stages altogether. Many of the physical, social, and psychological steps either can not be gained later in life, or be gained only through professional intervention.
