With Eating Disorders Awareness week around the corner (February 26-March 3, 2012), we wanted to devote this edition to the many educational opportunities available in our community this winter.
In the Classroom
We continue to offer classroom read-alouds and food-related discussions with an eating disorder professional.
SMEDA members are available to read the story Full Mouse Empty Mouse: A Tale of Food and Feelings by Dina Zeckhausen to third grade classrooms. After the story is presented, we hold a 30 minute discussion with the students regarding healthy eating habits, is there such a thing as “bad food,” and changes in our bodies around puberty.
